Ephraim Wisconsin
Ephraim Wisconsin is the most scenic and quaint Door County Community. One cannot help but be overwhelmed by the beauty of the Ephraim area on a long summer day. The sounds, sights, and smells evoke images of old Cape Cod.
The flavor and character of Ephraim quietly and persistently assure one that this is Americana. This is the way things were, this is how they should be, and in Ephraim Wisconsin they still are.
Ephraim Lodging
For an amazing stay try...

The Eagle Harbor Inn is our Ephraim choice. This traditional bed and breakfast inn offers a welcome twist. In addition to the main inn are one and two bedroom suites located on the grounds. The suites have a kitchen and feature a whirlpool and fireplace.
The commons building offers an indoor pool, exercise room, a sauna and meeting room. Eagle Harbor is a relaxing retreat perfect for couples and families. Strongly recommended.
Shopping
Ephraim offers many fine gift shops and studios. Most of them are geared toward the gift, accessory, and home décor market. Like many other shops in Door County each has it’s own unique niche or flavor. We can’t say we have a “stand out favorite.”
The Blue Dolphin House offers interesting contemporary home and garden items hard to find elsewhere. Much of what you find here has artistic or artisan flair. As a matter of fact Blue Dolphin House bills itself as a “gallery.” However, expect to pay gallery prices.
Ephraim Wisconsin Activities
There are many activities in and around the Ephraim area. But don’t overlook the villages strong suit. For us the simple beauty of the traditionally white painted buildings set among spectacular scenery is more than enough reason to spend some time exploring Ephraim.
In Mid-June check out the annual EPHRAIM FYR BAL FEST. This is one interesting festival! The Fyr Bal re-creates the early Norwegian tradition of celebrating Midsummer’s Eve. Shoreline bonfires usher in summer and the promise of a future harvest bounty. See Ephraim at it’s best during Fyr Bal.
If it is art that interests you stop at the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts at the historic Anderson Dock. This non-profit organization promotes awareness of the arts through events and exhibits from May to October.
Where to eat
For us Wilson’s Restaurant is “the place” to eat in Ephraim. The food is very good and very reasonable. Wilson’s is often known best for their great ice cream. Make sure to enjoy an ice cream outside and take in the incredible water view.
When it comes to a summer ice cream it’s a really hard to choose between Wilson’s and Not Licked Custard. If it’s an ice cream with a view go with Wilson’s.
Ephraim Recreation
Eagle Harbor is one of the premiere places in Door County to enjoy a water view or participate in water sports. Like many northern Door County communities Peninsula State Park is a short distance away. Any visitor can tell you that the park offers every thing from championship golf to cross country skiing.
Ephraim is sure to become a favorite after your first stop, so make sure and set a little time aside for Ephraim Wisconsin.
A little Ephraim History
Ephraim was established in 1853 through the efforts of Pastor Andreas Iverson when he founded the village as a Moravian religious community. The first years in Ephraim were not easy. At the time Ephraim was a fairly isolated village which initially depended heavily on delivered stores.
The strong spiritual convictions of the Moravians and the hearty and adaptable Norwegian settlers in the area overcame the initial hardships of settling in this wilderness area.
We hope your stay in Ephraim Wisconsin is wonderful, this is one of our favorite Door County Communities.
