Local Rides


There are great-organized rides set up to bicycle Door County. Some are weekly while others are annual events. Both beginner and conditioned cyclists can find a ride perfect for them. We will provide you with some basic information about rides that have been traditionally organized.

Anytime Rides


Penninsula State Park
Peninsula State Park is a truly awesome Door County Park. In the park is a nice 11.9-mile cycling trail perfect for a leisurely cruise with plenty of great sights. The terrain is mostly level and the trail has portions of firm crushed limestone suitable for most bicycles. In summer time Peninsula Park can get crowded, but do not let that scare you off. This is a really nice ride for the family and one of the most popular spots to bicycle Door County

Shore to Shore Tour
Made up of three loops. The outer loop is 29 miles, the north loop is 21 miles, and the south loop is 15 miles. All loops are on paved roads and are considered fairly easy. Explore the Lake Michigan and Green Bay sides of the Door County Peninsula. There are some very steep grades on the Green Bay side of the Peninsula. Find the trailheads in Town Park in Bailey's Harbor and Peninsula State Park. For more details call (920) 868-3258.

County Highway B
Bicycle Door County on a truely wonderful ride packed with plenty of breathtaking scenery.Take county highway B from Sturgeon Bay to Egg Harbor. This ride is about 18 miles and loosely follows the Green Bay Coast Line. To get to Highway B follow Business Route 42/57 into Sturgeon Bay, go into downtown by crossing the Michigan Street Bridge. Just after crossing the bridge turn left on First Street. Follow it and it will run into 3rd Avenue. Turn left on Third Avenue and follow Third Avenue about 3 miles. This will take you out of the Sturgeon Bay city limits where Highway B begins.

Scheduled Rides


Monday Night Road Ride
Meet at the Jumpstart Coffee house located at 6410 Hwy 57 in Dyckesville, a short drive south of Door County. This two-hour ride departs at 6 PM and explores up to 25 miles of Southern Door County roads. This is a great bicycle ride for novice and recreational riders looking for a sensible way to bicycle door county. Tuesday Night Road Ride This advanced road ride starts out from Market Square in downtown Sturgeon Bay around 5:30pm every Tuesday night May through September. Expect to cover up to 50 miles at a pretty brisk pace. We recommend this ride for conditioned cyclists looking for a challenge when they bicycle door county .

Wednesday Group Ride
This “no-drop” ride meets at Market Square at 5:30pm on Wednesdays and covers up to 25 miles. The pace is a lot more forgiving than the Tuesday night Road ride and is suitable for beginners.

Annual Rides

Ridges Ride for Nature
This annual ride benefits the Ridges Sanctuary nature preserve. The Ridges Ride takes place on the second Saturday in June and starts in Baileys Harbor. Choose from three routes, a 25km, 50km, and a 100km. For details call the Ridges Sanctuary at (920) 839-2802.

Door County Century Ride
The biggest ride in Door County. This two-day event takes place the weekend following Labor Day. Choose from 30, 64, 75, and 100-mile routes. Call DC Bikes for details (920) 743-4434. The century is a popular event that can draw up to 2000 riders.
